Massage Therapy utilizes techniques to relieve tension and soreness in the muscles and joints of the body. In a general session the therapist will use knead the muscle, use long flowing, strokes in the direction of the heart, and passive joint movements for relaxation. Deeper pressure techniques can also be used to address chronic muscle knots and stubborn tension in the body. The therapist will use deeper finger pressure, trigger point therapy, and slower strokes to relieve tension from the deepest layers of the muscles and connective tissues. Other techniques can include Thai stretches to stretch and work the body, relieving tension and anxiety on a deeper level
Clients may dress to their comfort level, but depending on the type of massage requested, too much clothing may hamper the therapist’s ability to provide a thorough treatment. This can be discussed at the beginning of your session as well as the choice of lotion or oil used, or you may bring your own product.
